Monday seems so long ago. On March 4th, New Jersey announced the first confirmed case in Bergen County. There are now 13 confirmed cases. All Bergen County schools are closed indefinitely. Stryker is asking employees to work remotely. Today, we are no longer talking about preventing the spread of COVID-19, we are now talking about steps to slow its progress – and we know how to do that.
1. Wash your hands.
2. Don’t touch your face.
3. Practice “Social Distancing”.
It is this third recommendation that has really taken off in the last two days as major sporting events and tournaments have been canceled. Even Broadway has decided, “The show must NOT go on.” Finally, many congregations in Bergen County are following suit and will only offer worship online.
Today, in consultation with the session, a decision was made to stop worshiping in the sanctuary for the remainder of the month (March 15, 22, 29) and encourage the congregation to join us live on Sunday mornings at 10 am on Facebook. Follow this LINK to watch. We believe this is the best decision at this time.
We will continue to monitor the situation in our community and update our plan according to the best information available to us from the CDC and local government.
